At Missouri Symphony Society, our hope is to continue to inspire young artists to faithfully pursue music. Our Conservatory offers  lots of opportunities to encourage your child’s musical journey. From the early stages of playing to performing in front of large crowds, our organization is with you and your musician every step of the way!

CONSERVATORY ENSEMBLES
Overture Strings (grades 1-4)
Provides entry level string orchestra training to our youngest elementary school  aged student musicians who are just learning to read music. Weekly rehearsals will focus on technique, ensemble performance skills, basic string repertoire, and music theory.
Rehearsals are on Mondays, 5:20-6:10 pm, at Broadway Christian Church, 2601 W. Broadway, Columbia
Junior Sinfonia (Grades 3 - 8)

For beginning to intermediate string players and intermediate wind players. Students learn the fundamentals of playing in an ensemble and receive an introduction to theory, music history and conducting.

This ensemble performers both classical and contemporary pieces. Wind players who audition should have been playing for two years or more. 

Rehearsals are Monday at 5:15 – 6:20 p.m. at Broadway Christian Church – 2601 W Broadway in Columbia, Mo. 

Young Artist Philharmonic (grades 8 - 12)

Introduces the intermediate to advanced instrumentalist to the chamber music ensemble and small orchestra experience.

Performing works by the masters, as well as contemporary music, the ensemble also studies eurhythmics, composition and conducting. All orchestral instruments are invited to join.

Rehearsals are on Mondays 6:30 – 8:45 p.m. at Broadway Christian Church – 2601 W Broadway in Columbia, Mo.

Chamber Players

A select group of advanced string and wind players performing as a small ensemble.

Students are hand-selected and must already participate in the Junior Sinfonia or Young Artist Philharmonic.

Rehearsals are Saturdays 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Broadway Christian Church – 2601 W Broadway in Columbia, Mo.
